Stainless steel, carbon steel and alloy steel. Every heat is analysed on our optical emission spectrometer before pouring, and the material certificate for that heat ships with your order. Tell us the grade you need in the RFQ and we will confirm whether we run it.
In cast form 304 corresponds to CF8, 316 to CF8M and 316L to CF3M (extra-low carbon, 0.03% C max) under ASTM A351. The cast grades have slightly different chemistry from the wrought bar grades, which is normal. If your drawing calls out a wrought grade, say so in the RFQ and we will confirm the cast equivalent with you before quoting. There is a full cross-reference table on the Materials page.
As-cast tolerances follow the general investment casting classes in ISO 8062, and the achievable value depends on the dimension, whether it crosses the parting line, and the alloy. Critical features are normally held by machining afterwards. Mark the critical dimensions on your drawing and the quotation will state which are cast and which are machined.
Thin sections are one of the things investment casting does well, but the workable minimum depends on the alloy, the flow length and the geometry rather than on a single published number. Send the 3D model and we will point out the areas at risk before any tooling is cut.
In-house. We have our own CNC turning and milling lines that take the casting to final drawing tolerance, including threading, sealing faces and assembly features, plus deburring and polishing.

A material certificate for the heat your parts were poured from, a dimensional report covering the features you nominate as critical, and test records where the drawing calls for them — leak or pressure testing for fluid-carrying parts.
Drawing review, tooling manufacture, trial shot, then a first article with a CMM report and material certificate for your approval. Only after you sign that off does the part go to volume. The sample is made on production tooling and the production route, so what you approve is what you will receive.
There is no single figure for either. Both move with the part, the tooling and the alloy, because a batch has to make economic sense for a whole heat and a whole shell run. Send the drawing and the quantity you have in mind and the quotation will carry specific numbers rather than an estimate.
Tooling ownership is agreed in writing before we start — it is a commercial term and belongs in the quotation and the order. If you already have tooling at another supplier, send the details and we will assess whether it can be reused or must be remade.
Yes, this is routine work. You send the current drawing and a sample, we review castability and tooling, we make a first article you can compare directly against your current supplier, then a small batch, then full volume. Existing tooling sometimes transfers and sometimes must be remade — send the details and we will tell you which.
